Album
reviews – Favours A good album by a band with
much potential. (3½/5)
New Zealand
Herald, November 1990
People in Auckland, for
reasons of pure geography, tend to look down on Wellington. But in a timeless
pure-poppish sense, Let’s Planet is something to look up to. A pretty special
debut. « « « «

Star, November 1990
Impressive and long-overdue
debut from the Wellington melody merchants. Favours eschews the tidy
classification "pop" with its mature blend of emotion. Exemplary production
highlights the assured musicianship of a band deserving a wide audience.
Evening
Post, November 1990
A sprightly, edgy collection
which rummages through pop’s wardrobe and chooses to wear only the brightest,
most tasteful garments. Bouncy craftsmanship and tight harmonies are evident
throughout. Definitely a band to watch out for.
Evening
Standard, December 1990
Bright sunny songs aeons
removed from the leaden Dunedin sound that has held the limelight in NZ music.
Call it pop if that’s what you call thoughtfully constructed elegant songs loaded
with catchy rhythmic "hooks". Refreshing.
Audio
& Video, December 1990
Favours has a nice
sense of restraint and completeness about it. Good songs, arranged with lots
of light and shade and turned into a really worthwhile slab of vinyl.

Listener, December 1990
Exceptionally charming,
wistful, jangley pop songs. A seriously good local album.

The romantic folk-rock of
Let’s Planet is a wonderfully infectious pop spin.
Option
(USA), March 1991
Let’s Planet is a combo
of earth-shattering proportions. Galloway and Easther are strong singers and
writers and in support they have a wonderfully integrated band.
